Beauty all through the year
Here are some photos of my garden throughout the seasons . I garden in northern New Jersey , Zone 6 , although we may move up to Zone 7 soon .
I planted thousands ofdaffodilsa few days ago and promise theynaturalize . I roll in the hay the double varieties like ‘ pinkish Champagne ’ , ‘ White Lion ’ , and ‘ Peach Cobbler ’ ( Zones 2–8 ) .
I also plant hundreds of tulips(Tulipahybrids , Zones 2–8 ) . We have some deer press , and I have to spray diligently in spring as shoots start to appear .

The ‘ Queen of Night ’ tulip and fallen pink petals of our ‘ Kanzan ’ cherry(Prunus‘Kanzan ’ , Zones 5–9 ) formed an unexpected and beautifulcombinationthat I seek to echo now every yr .
We have a routine ofpeoniesthat we inherited from late owners , and they are plausibly 30 to 40 years old . The ‘ Bowl of Beauty’(Paeonia‘Bowl of Beauty ’ , Zones 4–7 ) had an unbelievable flower showing last class because we curve down a nearby Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree and the plant now receive the proper amount of light to flourish .
There are a lot of sun - loving plants on thehellstripbetween the pavement and the street because it is one of the few places with full Dominicus . Cleome(Cleome hassleriana , annual ) andVerbenabonariensis(Zones 7–10 or as an annual ) are in bloom here .

I endeavor to incorporate manynative plantsin my flower beds . I love their ticklish nature and wild disembodied spirit . Here nativesPhloxpaniculata(Zones 4–8 ) andEchinaceapurpurea(Zones 3–8 ) join the other plants in the layer .
Thefall colorin the garden is salient , and one of my favorite fall color industrial plant is amsonia(Amsoniahubrichtii , Zones 5–8 ) , here showing off its yellowish color betweenornamental grassesand shrubs .
I leave a lot of perennialseed headsover the wintertime . They are actually very decorative , andbirdsadore the ejaculate .

tropic plantssuch as elephant ’s ear(Colocasiaesculenta , Zones 7–10 ) are abundant in the garden since they get it on our humid and hot New Jersey summers . Ioverwintermost of them in my cellar as tuber , cuttings , etc .
I also grow a sight ofdahlias(Dahlia × variabilis , Zones 8–10 or as a tender lightbulb ) . They are attending grabbers in myfall gardenand make sensational belated - season bouquet .
PurpleVerbena bonariensismixes with the white - edged bracts ofEuphorbiamarginata(annual ) , which is aboriginal to much of North America . Behind them is a cloud of silver and purpleness put up by Russian sage(Salviayangii , Zones 5–9 ) .
