Warm up cool weather gardens
It ’ll be weeks before there ’s any yellow folio - peeping in my garden . We have to peep tight , since the whole show lasts about 5 hour from leaf routine to throw . ‘ Butterpat ’ mums alert us that the meter is fare , though .
I just have it off these mommy ! I got them a few year ago atThe Natural Gardenerfrom the plants that designer and agriculturalist Tom Peace bring every year , originate about now . learn out his book , Sunbelt Gardening - Success in Hot - Weather Climates , packed with superb purpose and plant ideas .
This week on CTG , we repeat our tour of his springtime garden in Lockhart .

He layers structural evergreen plant via palms , agaves , yuccas , and shrub with explosions of layered people of colour . Since it ’s just about clock time to plant our coolheaded weather color , I go for this gives you some Modern idea !
Even though it ’s fall down ( when it ’s not being summer ) , it ’s metre to think about wintertime and early spring . On CTG this week , Tom meets with Kim and Mark Gaddy fromGaddy ’s Feed , Hardware and Gardenin Pflugerville for plants to warm you up on hot cocoa days .
Stop into Gaddy ’s and you may meet three propagation : Mark ’s parents , who started it all , Mark & Kim , and their son and daughter . They always have time to answer your question and solve your pattern puzzles . Gaddy ’s has flock of natives for winter interest , too , like possumhaw holly ( Ilex decidua ) .

And if you require some naturalise saltation bulbs , it ’s time to nab them .
I always plant mine on Thanksgiving weekend . One that both Tom Peace anddesigner Patrick Kirwinturned me onto was Freesia laxa , one that domesticate for us , and comes in white , too .
This week on CTG , William Glenn take a few dear naturalizing electric light , like Narcissus Erlicheer , and show us how to get them off to a good start .

As we head into wintertime , now is not a good time to prune yield trees . But when Gail Allen sent us her photo of a precarious peach tree , this week Daphne explains howto safely prune it now .
Until next week , Linda
