Catching up on what’s thriving in this garden

Today we ’re confab Patty Eckels ’s garden in Charleston , South Carolina . We ’ve visited withPatty before , and it is great to see how the space has develop in the preceding few years !

The pineapple guava(Feijoa sellowiana , Zones 7–10 ) was gorgeous this year . A scrap of pruning in the fall serve .

And here ’s the full Ananas comosus guava bush plant . Those beautiful flower will develop into tasty fruit , and , unusually , the flower petal of the flush are sweet and tasty as well .

Thesedum[probablySedum rupestre‘Angelina ’ , Zones 5–9]around the fountain just keeps coming . I displume it up and throw it in other areas of my garden ( without actually “ planting ” it ) , and it acquire .

Probably five year ago the ditches were dig profoundly to help with the flooding in the road . We plant around 100 Asiatic jasmine(Trachelospermum asiaticum , Zones 7–11 ) plugs , and both side of meat are now covered .

My pride and joyousness — agava(Agave americana , Zones 7–11 ) . I have give masses many babies from her .

This is a new area . My hubby dug up cast - iron plants(Aspidistraelatior , Zones 7–11 ) that were back in a street corner , and I transplanted them . We shall see what happens .

I ca n’t wait to see what flowers derive up in the back bed . I just discombobulate a bunch of blossom seeds in there . Again , that ’s Asiatic jasmine on the other side of the private road . We poke up some from the other side and found it in this ditch . ( I detest those ditch ! )

TheAcanthus mollis(Zones 6–10 ) , orbear ’s breeches , is another favorite of mine . ( But then are n’t all flowers / shrubs our ducky ? ) The leave ride out green , smart , and shining all wintertime here . The efflorescence are almost 4 feet marvelous .

I had 32 flax lilies(Dianella tasmanica , Zone 8–11 ) along the right side edge here , but the frost got them this past winter . They are struggling . Oh , and there ’s “ Gargy ” the gargoyle !

Years ago I constitute a few ferns on the left field . They have self - seed to the bed around the palm tree tree diagram . make love it ! My flax lilies here are sputter from the hoar .
