Two years ago , my married man and I moved to south - central Montana ( Zone 4b ) to turn in and be closemouthed to family . We purchase a 27 - twelvemonth - older home on 2½ acres with an abundance of fledged trees and a pond in an established neck of the woods . The yard and dwelling were in need of some TLC , so we arrest right to knead painting the whole house , expanding be garden beds and building newfangled ones . My hubby builtraised beds , and we have plant 100s of flora to bring my love of acottage gardento life . In the little time we ’ve been here , I have plant over 1000spring bulbsand have add plant , water sources , and food for thought to manifest our railway yard as aWildlife HabitatandMonarch Waystation . Learning to go with the nature of Montana , with hot , dry summer , cold snowy winters , and wind has been a challenge , but the wide unresolved sky with the most incredible sunrises and sunsets are so worth it . Further programme are for more raised bed , aboriginal landscape gardening , and a greenhouse . Being turn in , we are savour every step to make it our own .
