Landscape design on a tiny scale
I ’m Serome Hamlin , and I ’ve been gardening at my Zone 7b/8a Virginia place for over 20 years . I consider myself a works nerd and have start score miniature gardens I call “ mini - worlds ” withdwarf conifersand flora . Dwarf conifers are one of my favorite plant . ( I have a flock of favorite plants . ) Being an artist , I did n’t need to just throw any plant in thecontainer , I want to create a landscape in miniature form . So I ’m able-bodied to make containers with hardscaping such aspatiosandpathways . I also attempt to utilize a variety of plant life material of dissimilar height to give dimension . Remembering that the trees still have to fit the tantrum , I keep all the plants under 6 inches or so . That room the tree can be the tallest thing , giving the container a more realistic look . I have had talks and workshop at local wine maker , nurseries , and for garden ball club
Some of my preferent plants to use are gnome hostas , Lysimachiajaponicavar.minutissima(Zones 5–8),Ajugareptans‘Chocolate Chip ’ ( zone 3–10),Ophiopogonjaponicus‘Nana ’ ( geographical zone 6–11),Sedum‘Coral Carpet ’ ( Zones 3–9 ) , and mini kenilworth ivy(Cymbalaria aequitriloba , zona 6–10 ) . These miniskirt - humans stay out year - troll and can make greatfocal pointsin a full - sizing garden or used on patios and balcony .
This mini - world lives in a barrow , tucked into the larger garden around it .

As you get closer , the miniskirt - world comes into focus , the small perennial maintain in scale with the midget conifers .
A littlegravel pathleads to a terrace where a miniature individual might enjoy the thud of ‘ Chocolate Chip ’ genus Ajuga .
Here ’s the same garden , discover from a lower slant that really makes it seem like a miniature world .

This mini - Earth in a white pipe bowl has spotted aucuba ( Aucubajaponica , Zones 7–10 ) as a backcloth .
Miniature variety show ofhostasare beautiful but are easy to lose in the larger garden . Putting them in a mini - landscape painting like this take into account you to savour their every detail .
Serome does n’t just make miniature landscape ! Here ’s part of his fully human - size landscape .

A everlasting little stone cottage sits in the middle of this miniskirt - world .
I eff how elaborate this miniskirt - world is . The Isidor Feinstein Stone cottage at the end of the path sit in a world full of beautiful plant .
