In a Vase on Monday. Christmas Eve Flower Count.
Every class , my Christmas Eve treat is to stroll round the garden and plunk a bouquet of whatever is in bloom for the tabular array . This year as Christmas Eve falls on a Monday , I can bring together in with Cathy ’s meme and share my vase with you . It is a beautiful twenty-four hour period today so the treat has been extra enjoyable . I grow as many winter blossoming plants as I can but the count varies from year to year because you never cognise which ghost of summer will storm by lollygag on or put in a precocious appearance .

When count , I only permit myself one rose , the one I take this year is reliable long bloom ‘ Sally Holmes ’ . I have just one hellebore although I speculate I could have includedHelleborus nigeras well asHelleborus orientalis . I have one primrose although I have them out in unlike colouring . I have three abutilons because they are all so unlike . I love bad , bright redAbutilonNabob ’ and variegatedAbutilon pictum‘Thompsonii ’ with orange flowers . They are both blossom merrily away out of doors although they are not hardy , they are too prominent to contribute inside . Lovely lilacAbutilonvitifolium‘Suntense ’ is reasonably hardy , at least mine has survived outdoors for years . I number the three viburnums separately because they are so different .

I reckon it would be jockey to use flowers from the glasshouse so these are all from the garden . It is awing what you find if you have a right search . And it is such play . The total varies each year accord to the weather condition but there are always some surprise . I ’ve just commemorate I forgotCyclamen coumso the total should be 29 .
I put my flower in my Wedgwood Silver lustre jug to give a bit of Christmas twinkle .

You are , l am certain , rightly proud to have such a endearing regalia of blooms . I wondered what part of nirvana you gardened in … and checking your blog , find that you had made your corner in the UK into a heavenly garden . I ’d forgotten about this vacation tradition of yours , which I now call back look up to last year . I recently annotate my suspicion that you have more in bloom than I do in my arguably more temperate clime and I think this post clinches the argumentation . Now that you cite Alstroemeria , I remember catching a glimpse of what would be an former blooming of our early outpouring here – I need to direct a search to see if that was simply an anomaly or a portent of blooms to do . With just a little more rainwater , the latter is potential .
