It’s summer inside, no matter what happens outside
Today we ’re visiting Kris and Bob Sislow ’s indoor tropical paradise in Riverwoods , Illinois .
We submitted pictures of our summertime gardens a few geezerhood ago and decided now to send pictures of our winter garden , which is in an affiliated het up greenhouse . Living in Zone 5 in the northern suburb of Chicago , we move in all the pot lantana tree , alocasia , begonia , succulents , and other various plants . We have a potted jacaranda , red-faced pulverisation pouffe Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree , bombastic and pocket-sized flowered tibouchina urvilleana , bougainvillea , and others . It ’s a joyousness to front out from our family elbow room and see blooming Christmas cactus , camelias , clivias , and more . The cool glasshouse climate retain the plants flower for a chip longer . We love gardening and are always on the lookout man for strange plants or seeded player , whether they are challenge to grow in this zone or not . We ’ll be planting some of our flower and vegetable germ soon , a sure welcome polarity of the coming spring .
A jungle of greenery in the greenhouse . I think everyone hold up in a dusty climate would love to have a space like this !

hang up baskets of Christmas cactus ( Schlumbergerasp . ) are loaded up with flower in a photo that also let in a diverse group of plants . coolheaded conditions aid make the efflorescence of these and other anthesis plant last much longer than usual .
A camellia , mayhap the variety ‘ Yuletide ’ ( Camelliasasanqua‘Yuletide ’ , Zones 7–10 ) . camellia are a swell pick for a coolheaded , northerly greenhouse . They bloom during the wintertime , when you need color the most , and since more of them are hardy to Zone 7 or 8 , a minimally heated , or even unwarmed , greenhouse is sufficient to keep them happy and blossom in even the coldest climates .
Here ’s a wide aspect of the greenhouse , which is laden up with flowers .

Clear shelving allow for the maximum bit of plants to be packed into the distance .
Red powder puff tree ( Calliandra haematocephala , Zones 9–11 ) in peak .
One last scene of the greenhouse . If you are mad of the coke , maybe you need one of these !
