As much of the United States enjoys a routine of lovesome , spring - like weather ( record smash 65 degrees here today ! ) , I still ca n’t trust that it is already the end of February . Is it a cliche to say things like “ where did this wintertime go ? ” or is it just a jinx - worth statement ? Peas can be planted any day now if this keeps up , and although I love do love me a good , snow-covered wintertime , I mean I ’m upright .
If I tell you why I seem to have take a few weeks off from write you ’ll laugh . I am so self - witting about my ‘ casual ’ or ‘ colloquial ’ writing style , that I bought a penning program and signed up for an app holler Grammarly that would help me . Over the past few weeks , I ’ve spell at least 10 posts , then save them all as drafts – as I keep cut , and editing , and editing and editing , and then re - writing . I somehow lose my timing .
The effect is that I suffer my impulse – my natural beat which was quite wide-eyed . Taking pictures and write that just followed whatever the pictures required . I know that it can seem random , and I had some concern that after ten days thing start to repeat , but the trueness is , each class is different in some direction , as most who garden , know .

Remember all of those Dutch incandescent lamp that I potted up and stash under the greenhouse bench last October ? Well , they are all flower . It ’s funny ( or sad ? ) that as we develop elderly , time passes much for quickly , for October seemed as if it was yesterday . That phenomenon does have me investing more in things like forced bulb which seemed to take forever when I was a 12 year old , and often became discouraging .
Here in New England , weather February can be volatile . OK , it can be mercurial most any calendar month of the year , but one notices such difference on those fringe month . February can keep us late under 5 feet of snow ( as in the past two long time ) with witch hazels waiting to bloom until March or even April , or they can break open into rosiness during the first hebdomad of February .
This year , I would say that it ’s pretty average , as our Hamamelis x ‘ Arnold ’s Promise ’ has unfurled its golden threads today , and since it is nearly the oddment of February , the 65 level . F temperature ( even with a foot of snow still on the ground ) is welcome .

And now for something dissimilar . In December we received a delivery andiron from France , who came to stay with us while being pass judgment at Tufts University to see if they could rejuvenate this sweet four twelvemonth sure-enough Wire Hair Fox Terrier and French Griffon ( clearly , more Griffon ) . He was separated from his bedding first mate in France as a puppy when his breeders , who was breed hunt dogs discovered that he was blond . HI as identify by a squad of dog saving folk music from France and the Mid West , who patronize his slip here . They asked us to help and we welcome the prospect as they helped us once with an Irish Terrier deliverance .
Why he was named “ Bob ” in France , I have no theme . We do call him ‘ Robert ’ more than we do Bob , tough . I you screw of anyone suitable of such a sweet deliverance , get hold of me and I can put you in contact with the folks here in the Mid West who are set up his placement . For a unreasoning detent ( who is now officially unreasoning , the vets found his eyesight un - restorable ) , he is smart , learns and maps out the theater and yard quickly ( just do n’t move article of furniture around as we did once ! ) .
He is large than you might call back , but his pelt is so subdued , and he is a genuine truelove . All he want to do is to sit on the lounge or on the chair with you and cuddle . Oh , and he likes to corrode , but then again , he is Gallic !

If anyone is attending the thirty-sixth Annual Connecticut Flower and Garden Show this Sunday , come see me speak at the Garden Conservancy Seminar at 2:00 Prime Minister . I ’ll be talk about Rediscovering Summer Blooming Bulbs .
