Building my She Shed or as I prefer calling her, my Primrose Cottage Studio.
Building my She Shed or Garden bungalow studio apartment was a fun DIY we did together . I show you how we put her together tone by whole tone . For a look inside I have a nexus at the bottom of this post that will take you to the Charles William Post all about it .
Also know as Pamela ’s Pleasure Palace ( I wanted to make a sign for the front that read that but my hubby think it would send the wrong message )
About 18 years ago on December 25th , my married man and I began to build my little backyard cottage . It is my most favorite place to be when I am not in my garden .

Beautiful in All Seasons
Click here to see it through the seasons … I specially love Summer .
It is surrounded by flowers and my garden .
You may think we were unbalanced take up on it in the dead of winter but at the time we had a large shop space we could make it inside of .

My husband design it in panels that could be accept aside for moving it to our backyard .
He also designed it 12′ x 12′ to denigrate waste of any textile . The plans give detail of building it from the ground up . Of course , you start with the floor . My husband made indisputable it was perfectly level .
Getting Started
See all that insulation towards that back rampart .
We super insulate so it would be easy to stir up . We do n’t get very hot summer so chill was not an issue , though the insulation helps that as well .
The high ceiling also aids in keep it cool when we do get a hot Clarence Shepard Day Jr. .

She Shed Walls
Each wall was built individually on the flat level flooring of the cottage , raised into place , and secured .
Not permanently secure as we live it was going to be move after build up but secured enough to square everything up .
This is the front wall , you could see the opening move for the French door . I knew I would need to act upon on furniture in my studio cottage ( aka she throw away ) so a wide-cut opening was crucial .

Next came the back wall .. (trust me , the walls are n’t crooked , it is my photography )
Since it was only my married man and I we had to apply some cheats … here is used a forklift to purloin up the top back gable end into office and view as it so he could procure it . On site you would practice a couple guys , I imagine .
A Studio Cottage needs Lots of Windows
See the little square up in the middle of the gable ending , that is a little window that works great for letting out hot air in the summertime , it is in the loft area .
Next is the side wall .. complete with muddle for windows .
I want as many windows as I could get . I am now thinking I postulate a skylight too but that was not ramp up into it but I feel it would be a great addition .

She Shed Loft
After both wall are up it is time to add up the loft .
A great storage station but when my girl was youthful she had a feather mattress tossed up there and she would lay and record in the attic while I painted forth below .
She fuck it in my studio apartment as much as I.

He frame it in and I nailed down the loft flooring .
Hmm , seems I pretermit a step , the ridge beam was installed before I pass with flying colors on the flooring . Oh well , the program have the step - by - footmark intimately than my photos .
Sheeting
It starts to come together fleetly once it is all set up up . Add some sheeting and window and you are almost there .
Moved to site (our backyard)
Next , it was moved on internet site . It was several month later before we could bring it home as we had snow on the ground .
But once it warmed up and we could hale it home we did !
The struggle for the guy rope putting it up on site was even though we had meticulously made trusted it was all square when we built it , having it sit down for a few months induce the baseball bat to dry out and shrink some .

That made it a challenge to get it to all feather up again . Lesson learned! But they did it .
Porch
A sweet small porch was add .
And then Voila ’ ! A wonderful picayune cottage ( she cast ) is wear …
Paint
sum up a bit of paint and you are quick to go …
Now you have a sweet little place to spend frigid wintertime days in comforter . You will savour it just as much in Summer if not more !
